i don't play very well in round 1. i probably would have finished her 10 moves earlier if it was round 2 or 3. 

i'd say i was lucky... 

last time i checked, his USCF rating was 1998... and mine was 1303 (although it probably should be higher). what an upset. 

it was hoffman estates high school's first time having the 1st place winning board 1 in at least 10 years, i hear, that's an achievement. but i think i was just a lucky bastard today.
