Endgame Techniques

This blog is about Endgame Techniques. Let me show you some of them!
1. Fortress
As the above position shows us, it demonstrates the fortress. Black may be down Rook for Queen, but he has made this unbreakable fortress. If black keeps playing Rf6 and Rh6, and when the black king gets checked, the king should move between g8, h8 and h7 and White will not be able to get through in any way.
2.Making The Right Exchange
This might sound a bit vague but let met me tell you what I mean by this,
We can see that this game is between Benjamin Gledura and Vishnawatan Anand. As we see there looks like nothing both sides can do, but after Vishy's mistake, there is a long term idea which will show us why this is an important move.
This puzzle shows us the answer, how we can trade off the bishop for the knight so that the white king can access the light squares. This long term plan will only help white as the knight in this endgame is very strong because of all the central squares white can access. Gledura went on to win the game in great fashion.
