Almost 25 years like I am playing chess and I am sure that this love for whole life! Was different periods in my chess carrier, sometimes not enough time for chess, sometimes I was sure that I am done with chess, but later on anyway I came back to my favorite sport! In one moment I just realized that I want to teach kids and adults how to play chess or just help them to improve their knowledges! At that moment I lived at frosty Saskatchewan, where is traditionally popular hockey, curling and American football.

I had chance to compare level of chess in Ukraine and Canada and its huge different. I was very upset that so great country like Canada  totally don't care about chess. But actually, chess is very cheap sport if you will compare with hockey or rugby. As for me chess it's one of the best sport for kids, if you want to improve lots of qualities for their upcoming life. That's why in some countries chess is one of the subject at schools, because you can't develop only muscles, you need also training your brain, especially when we talk about youth.

So, how chess can improve kids? Youth will know:

  • how to make a plan;
  • how to calculate variations;
  • how to predict next action;
  • how to concentrate;
  • how to learn something new from their own mistakes;
  • how to make self-improvement;
  • how to analyze;
  • how to solve problems, and much more!

The most important for beginner it is his first coach! This person can open magic world of chess for your kid or just discourage the desire to learn and play. The second essential thing it's competition. The healthy competition during lessons and tournaments its the main factor for growing up! Unfortunately, during pandemic very difficult to use competition in chess, but at least we can use "zoom". The third factor is- parents. They shouldn't make a pressure on kids, and for sure not forced child to play chess. Parents should show for their kids as much as possible, that they will able to choose what they really like.

I knew stories of my friends when their parents put huge pressure on kid after defeated. As usual that kids are dreaming to stop playing chess, what is not good for sure. Success in chess depend of triangle Coach-Child-Parents. All 3 corners must work together and smoothly. Coach should  be kind and love chess. Child should be interested to learn chess. Parents should control kids at home with homework and make sure that their kids have everything what they need for education (note book, chess books, computer etc.). Parents don't need to teach the coach how to work with kid. They should be ready to spend their own leisure time with kid on chess lessons or tournaments. If this triangle lost one corner, than there are no chances for success. So be attentive to your child and give him chance to choose what he is really like!
