GFE ft Homemade Tortillas (I)

Hello everyone! So yesterday for the very first time I made my own tortillas. I have always watched mom put it together and yes I have helped cooked them but never made the whole thing altogether. Well now I did. Tortillas are very good and can be used for many recipes and for all three meals- breakfast, lunch , and dinner. These use all purpose flour but I think you can use wheat or whatnot.

Ingredients:

1 cup of warm water- I did it for 30 seconds in the microwave...you just want it a little bit above lukewarm.

3 cups flour

1 tsp salt

1/3 cup vegetable oil- this is important!! If you use any other it won't work. Especially olive oil...your Tortillas will be ruined.

The How to:

Combine it all and mix well. Should look like dough.

Dump the stuff on to your counter and prepare to kneed that thing for almost 8 minutes straight. You gotta do it. If you do it less it'll mess up your dough...something scientific about this...I believe that's what my mom said....

Once kneeded make them into balls. Yes be brave and rip that dough! You should have maybe 12 balls.

Cover and let it sit for 15 mins. Once ten minutes are up, heat up your skillet.

Roll out your dough. Take each rolled piece of dough and stick it into the pan. The pan must have nothing in it! Nothing! Flip once you see bubbles rising and it has touches of brown.

And you're finished!!! Make into burritos, quesadillas etc!
