Announcing a new Youtube Series : Chess Openings in 5 Minutes
Recently I've taken a good look at the number of views per article. At first, I was surprised to see that much of my opening articles did not get as much readership as my more general, mainstream advice. But it actually makes sense : most readers (and you too, dear !) tend to like words and the more concrete matter deserves a different medium.
I've elected Youtube to help players all the way to master level with their preparation through my new series : Chess Openings in 5 Minutes.
The title is pretty self-explanatory : every week, I'll publish at least two videos of 5 minutes or less explaining the main lines (up to 10) of an opening, with general ideas in terms of pawn moves and piece placement. If you want a quick fix for your online games, have an outline for further research in a new system, or even learn the new tendencies of systems you thought you knew everything about, you should definitely have a look.
Now, as you may imagine, you won't know every single theme with 5 minutes of learning. Fear not ! I also plan to add another series (currently unnamed, any ideas ?) that will go deeper into the material by analyzing classical games, much like I've done in my Chessable courses, the first (Killer Dutch Middlegames) already published, the second (Stonewall Middlegames) soon to follow in April and a third on Sveshnikov Middlegames hopefully by June. The books are the most extensive studies of typical structures you could imagine, with 300 examples, half of them practical exercises.
Not everyone, though, has either time or dedication for that. The videos are a good middle ground for ambitious players who want to become familiar with a subject before choosing to go further,
So here we go. By the way, the podcast Chess Adventures will be resumed from tomorrow, narrating the story of a coach and kids under his guard, all the way to the top of...who knows ? As a trainer for over 10 years, I used that experience to make it more realistic. Hope you enjoy, an until then, be well !
