Today I will show you a sacrifice for black and the Center Game Accepted: Danish Gambit.

After my article about preventing 1…, e5 while playing the white pieces I saw that black can sacrifice pawns for an opening advantage. After the most common move, 1. e4, black plays d5.

A Sacrifice For Black

If white ignores the threat…

An interesting position appears! But if white accepts the pawn…

We can take over the center! Or sacrifice further.

If you think that’s enough, play this move:

Or this move:
The second move will increase development.

But the pawn move made a weakness because the pawn stands in a place where the king and rook will be forked:

Black realizes that and reinforces the pawn with a trap on the doorstep:

Black ignored the trap and emerged with a winning position. But if black doesn’t ignore the trap…

…the player with the black pieces will lose a rook and bishop. However, the white queen got almost trapped and black took over the center.

Center Game Accepted: Danish Gambit

The opening begins with e4 and e5. After that white wants to sacrifice a pawn for better development:

Instead of c3, you can play the move that takes over the center:

Black certainly won’t approve.

It isn’t a good idea to take the queen out. You can give a second and even third pawn:

In the beginning: if black ignored c3…
…black would lose the center.

After sacrificing three pawns white will develop rapidly. Black has the whole kingside undeveloped. I hope you enjoyed reading! Have a nice day!
