Trying to get Better at Chess: My Journey Begins
One of the most frustrating things in chess is being bad or simply not having a good time. More recently, I have fell into the pitfall of both. I have played quite recklessly and I've failed to look at the why of my moves too often. I have also had a hard time getting stuck in draws or zugswangs in Rapid and even Blitz some by my own passivity or lack of understanding. I believe my issue is that I have not taken the time to sit down and actually study like top players do. I don't have any opening repertoire or know lines. I decided to put an end to my bullet addiction that has plagued my play and I will for now focus on Classical, Daily, and Rapid play to work on getting better. I also am working on developing a simple opening repertoire with 1. e4 only as white hoping for Steinitz Attack Petrov's or Scotch Games to start but with a response to every first move possible as black. I also have a response for ever first move against white as black and will especially commit to playing mostly the Sicilian and rarely as a trick the Alekhine against 1. e4 and the Indian but rarely as a trick the Dutch against 1. d4. I hope to get better and work to also understand principles and the why of my openings like why they are good and what they actually aim to accomplish. I am hoping to have a great 2023 and I aim to reach 2000 rapid and 1600 daily chess.com rating by the end of the year as well as building up to 1600 blitz and 1600 bullet which I both will still play. Wish me luck!
