Hello everyone, welcome back to my blog. In this one I will be telling you about Bobby Fischer, the guy in the picture👍.
Who is Bobby Fischer?
Robert James Fischer is his real name. He was born on the 9th of March 1943, in Chicago, Illinois. A prodigy, at the age of just 13 he played a game that was dubbed "The game of the century", not a lot of kids can do that. At the age of 14 he became the U.S. Champion, no kids can do that. At the age of 15 he became the youngest Grand Master (GM) in the history of chess at that time. At the age of 20, Fischer won the U.S. Championship 1963/64, with the best score to this day, a perfect 11/11.
Games of Bobby Fischer
Let's take a look at some of Fischer's gems:
This game is Fischer vs Spassky game 6. And when Fischer won, Spassky joined the world in the standing ovation by standing up and applauding his own loss.
This game is one of the short ones. It was Fischer vs Reshevsky, the game is is only ten moves long and Bobby was really surprised when GM Samuel Reshevsky, fell for such a trap.
Note: Samuel Reshevsky is not a joke, you might think he is because he blundered so early in the game, but he is actually a VERY strong GM who beat José Raúl Capablanca, Emmanuel Lasker, Mikhail Botvinnik, Alexander Alekhine, Fischer himself, and more world champions.
WHY IS BOBBY FISCHER THE GREATEST PLAYER TO LIVE?
Well, it's kind of hard to tell if he is the strongest chess player in history because he passed away in 08', but it isn't hard to say that he is the greatest. His style of play and his accuracy is more impressive than anyone else of the time, he could single handedly beat all the Russians, who dominated in the chess world at the time, he inspired millions if not billions of kids to pick up a chess board, He is a very big reason that the chess community is as great as it is today.
