The President's Day Open 2024 was held from February 16th to 19th at the Dulles Marriott Washington in Dulles, VA. It was a 7 round Swiss tournament with a prize fund of $5500! The Premier section was FIDE rated and boasted 18 top players, mostly from the DC Metro area. All sections combined had more than 70 players. The U1900 section by itself had 35 players. National Master Vaibhav Kalpaka won first place in the premier section with a score of 5.5/7. Franco Alejandrino ended up winning the U1900 section with a score of 5.5/7 and Andrew Moore took first in the U1500 with a score of 6/7. 

A scholastic side event with K-3, K-5, K-8 and K-12 sections was held on Saturday. We also had a Sunday night blitz tournament that was enjoyed very much by all the players.
