Hello everyone,

Firstly, I’m really sorry for not posting anything for a while. Please apologise me.Secondly, our today’s topic is the Smith-Morra Gambit which is an amazing and interesting variation in the Sicilian Defense. You play this opening with the white pieces and here’s how you play it(third diagram).Here,d5 might look like a mistake but it’s a pawn sacrifice.By playing d4 you not open files for your rook but also open diagonals for your bishop. This opening is for people who love sacrifices and a tough middle game. You can also draw the game like this if this opening turns out to be really difficult(the second diagram). In this opening I urge players to keep the bishop-pair advantage as the center is open and bishops work wonderful in open positions.

Overall Summary

  • Try to have the bishop-pair advantage(if possible).
  • Be ready for sacrifices and exchanges.
  • Don’t exchange bishops for knights.
  • It is a complex opening but it’ll be easy if you practise regularly. Never ever resign(if you’re losing, don’t resign try to play till the end as there’re chances of you being the gamechanger of the match).
On the top, there’s a game of mine playing with my next-door mate,Paul.Hope you all enjoyed.THANKS.
