Traxler Counter Attack -Part 1
Hello everyone, today we'll learn the basic setup and the key ideas of the Traxler Counter Attack which was invented by Karel Traxler. So let's get started.
This is the basic setup of the Traxler Counter Attack. White eyes down toward black weak f7 pawn and black sacrifices the d pawn(temporarily) by playing d5 and gets it back afterwards.
- White's target from the opening is the weak f7 pawn.
- It usually results in a draw if both the players are of the same level.
- You should keep the double knight advantage as it would be useful in the endgame.
- This opening was invented by Karel Traxler.
- Try to castle kingside(short castle) if possible because your king would remain safer in the kingside compared to the Queenside.
Now let's see how to save yourself from this Attack if you are black.
I hope you enjoyed the blog and learned something new from it. I spent an hour gathering information and analysing variations. Hence, if you follow me, I would really appreciate it. Thanking you in anticipation.
