Perhaps you have once asked yourself, "Does chess actually help? I'm spending so much time on chess.com and other chess sites, will it pay off, or am I wasting my time? Or is chess even harmful?"

If so, you have come to the right place.

Most (good) chess players have a problem, and there is a chance your parents might have noticed it. The problem is spaciness. You seem distracted, can't focus, learning occasionally comes with difficulty. Those are some of the symptoms of spaciness. It is like a light form of ADHD. In a later blog post, I will look into that topic, this is just an introduction.

However, chess has its benefits as well. Many benefits. Chess players are often much better at math, science, and logic. Chess players are generally smarter that people that don't play chess. Chess makes you think outside the box. Chess can even reveal stuff about your personality! If you like attacking in chess, that probably means you aren't the calmest person in the world! And if you are a very solid and positional player, you are probably not a bully in real life.

An interesting fact is that chess players also seem to have a good sense of humor. tongue.png But anyway, then there are the questions about how does your lifestyle affect your chess skills? Although this is just a small introduction, I will say one thing. Chess and video games do not go together.

If you have any of those questions, or would like to learn more about those topics, I suggest reading the next blog posts, which will focus on these topics in much greater detail.

Thank you for taking the time to read this!
