Chess History

Chess, as we know it today, has a history spanning almost 1500 years, originating in India around the 6th century CE. It evolved from an earlier Indian game called chaturanga and spread to Persia, then to the Muslim world, and finally to Europe. The modern rules of chess emerged in Europe by the 15th century, with standardization and the first world chess championship in 1886.
