Hey guys! I am here with my first blog in my new series: "What to do in the Middlegame." I am Dane, and if you want to know more about me go to "Dane Stevens. Who I am."

So, what I need to make clear is that in the middlegame you have to have a plan. And how do you make a plan? That is what we will be discussing. When you have all your pieces developed, and your king castled, you have to decide what to do next. It could be setting up an attack against the enemy king, it could be getting a knight to a outpost, or it could be trading off an isolated pawn. Whatever it is you need a plan.

"Even a poor plan is better than no plan at all." - Mikhal Chigorin

You will learn how to exploit your opponents weaknesses, to rid of your weaknesses, and to play positionally.

Could you tell me in this position what each colors plan is? White is trying to play d5 to trade off his isolated pawn, and black is prepared to blockade it with his knight and force white to passively defend it. You will learn how to play positions like this with ease, blitzing out accurate moves one after another.

But, another factor in how the middlegame is played, is how the opening is played. A middlegame plan is easier to formulate if you understand why each opening move was played. We will not talk about the opening in this series, but you need to have good opening knowledge to become a strong player.

Finally, I will just keep you a little longer to say that blogs will come up about once a week. Bye!
