Opening Bomb Diary #4 Deadlier Than it Looks...
These days, the London System after 1.d4 d5 2. Bf4 has been as popular as it's ever been, with followers surging after major efforts by Kramnik, probably the biggest trendsetter today. What used to be the pet line of Grischuk and Kamsky is now a staple way to steer the opening duel into new waters.
In this article I want to investigate my own take on some of the lines. I've had this idea in my pocket for about a year, and to be honest I have no concrete verdict on it, as it sometimes gets quite bizarre, but I have no doubt that it contains some hidden venom, and is much less well known than the standard London System lines seen today.
Now for the main idea I wanted to share, and probably the most innocuous looking of them all:
So there you have it. Again, this idea is pretty experimental, and there are definitely many lines / possible antidotes waiting to be found, but I find it really beautiful, a true strategic trap that I think any unprepared opponent can easily fall head-first into. So feel free to try this devious light-squared scheme out and please don't hesitate to share your thoughts and questions.
