Control the center

If you're a chess beginner and have recently started your journey, here's a tip for you. Control the center.   For example, if you're the white pieces and making the first move, the top 4 suggested moves are: e4, d4, Nf3, Nc6. But the best is e4 or d4 now look below

e4 is a solid move that controls the d5 square and the f5 square. d4 is a very good alternative of e4. d4 controls the e5 square and the c5 square.

if you play e4, black may respond with e5 or d5 (or Nf6 and Nc6). 1...e4 e5 is known as the King's Pawn Opening. e5 controls the d4 and f4 squares. Black may also respond with d5. 1...e4 d5 is known as the Scandinavian Defense. When the Scandinavian Defense happens, d5 controls the c4 square while attacking the e4 pawn. Now, let's go to the d pawns. black can respond with d5 or e5 (or Nf6 and Nc6) 1...d4 d5 is known as the Queen's Pawn Opening. 1...d4 e5 is know as the Englund Gambit. this lesson is now finished.
