Untitled Tuesday: July 2, 2019

The Untitled Tuesday July event was a large event, featuring 33 total competitors, many of whom have played in many prior Untitled Tuesdays. Despite the relatively large field only nine players played all ten rounds, others withdrawing when they became convinced they couldn't contend for first, or late-joining if they weren't around by the start time. The event turned out to be a close race between Untitled Tuesday regulars, although unfortunately for much of the tournament a player whose account has since been closed for fair play violations was leading with a perfect score. We remind all Untitled Tuesday members that games in our tournaments are monitored for fair play violations, and we hope those reading this recap will continue to play fairly and honestly on chess.com, whether in Untitled Tuesday events or otherwise.

 

Among the best starts of the tournament belonged to cjxchess17, whose name should, by now, be very familiar to Untitled Tuesday participants. In the third round he played a very clean game against another player with a then-perfect score:
