Small Circle Defense

Nov 4, 2013, 5:08 PM 0

I utilize the Small Circle Defense (...p-k3, ...p-q3). I don't know where or how i discovered this defense, but it seems a combination of the French, Caro-Kann, and Sicilian. My question- advantage vs deception! Give up the center and form a counter attack based on the opening as it's being formed. As Sun Tzu said: attack via withdrawl- with my added modification of starting the game with this intention. It apperars, every move is critical and must be the correct response. If this is done amazing victories can be won and the strategy provides for a tightly contested game. When a miscalculation occurs (for Blk) it is usually serious and does offer options and these must be sought intensely. I ask for thoughts on this opening(s) and any history of the small circle.
