Hyper Bullet

Have you ever played before,

A game so fast I am sure you will know.

Yes it is Hyper Bullet,

That's what everyone calls it.

I wasn't even going to play today,

I thought I would put my phone away.

Log out of this chess app,

Do some meditation or have a nap.

But I heard something on my phone,

A notification and a ringtone.

I check to see,

Who could it be.

And yes it is a message from a friend on chess,

To see if I could play rapid, bullet or blitz.

But I promised myself I wouldn't play today,

Perhaps go out somewhere far away.

A walk down the country lane,

Around the pond and back again.

The weather looks good,

And I am in a good mood.

Just as I set out for a long walk,

I check into my phone and look at the clock.

A notification pops up from my chess friend,

And I find myself back on the phone again!

I see the tournaments that are about to start,

Rapid, bullet and hyper bullet.

But its nothing but a tournament, nothing more,

So why don't I go out and close the door.

I think about it twice and then once more,

And I then find myself back on my phone, oh no!

There is no way out,

I entered the tournament without any doubt.

I know I could leave at anytime,

But that would be bad and such a shame.

The tournament starts in 59 seconds,

And I just know I am going to have some crazy fun.

Just in time to put on my favourite track,

And now waiting for the seconds to tick tick tick.

I'm in and a few seconds left,

I can't wait to start hyper bullet.

A sigh, a pause and deep breath in,

I am nervous for the game is about to begin.

The music 🎶 is great, the beat is pumping,

But my head is aching and thumping.

This is crazy, a 30 second game,

If I were to resign now that would be a shame.

So I play on moving my pieces fast,

No time to think, but I move in haste.

Oh no! what did I do.........

Can you even move your queen too soon,

I thought I could get away with it.

But not even in a game of hyper bullet,

I wish I never played, I want to go for a walk.

But now it's too late, just seconds left on the clock, 

I know I will lose and perhaps I can't bear it.

Shall I resign, or shall I stall..........

I hate this game, it's no fun at all.

But the music 🎶 sounds great, 

And I resigned before the checkmate.

I must have played real bad,

But I don't feel mad.

Because the music 🎶 sounds great,

And I will play til late.

Wow! what awesome music 🎶 

I know I am a chess addict.

My next game and I start,

But my opponent is playing really smart.

Ok ok, no more hope chess,

I am just going to play my very very best.

Watching the clock as the seconds pass,

This time I will play my queen till very last.

I exchange my bishop for the knight,

I give away my pawns like some crazy gambit.

My king is left in the center,

Perhaps I can castle later.

Later I say.......how can that be?

It's amazing how much can be done,

In the first 5 seconds of the game.

I need to be sharp, keep my back straight,

Drink some water and win no matter.

"Come on" I say to myself I have to win,

Take out your queen,

And cause havoc and destruction,

And really be mean.

Use your pawns to create obstruction,

No time to lose, only to win.

Bring your opponent to their knees,

It's only a matter of seconds for your rating to.....

......increase..........!

This is so much fun,

Crazy tactics and adrenaline.

Sharp moves and discovered attacks,

But beware and watch out for your own back.

I maybe good but I am no Bobby Fischer,

But I believe in myself and I am my own teacher.

One crazy move, a sacrifice,

But blundered my rook, a move made too soon.

I lose the game that I thought I nearly won,

This is crazy but sooooooooo much fun.

Wow this music 🎶 is so amazing,

And its only the hyper bullet beginning.

I go into my third game and hope to win,

And I see my opponents rating.

Ok I think to myself the rating is low,

If I lose this game it will be such a huge blow.

But my opponent plays really well, that I can tell,

They castle in time and start an attack.

But I trick my opponent and get them back,

Now it's all about closing in.

Get my pieces ready for that deadly checkmating,

But their bishop and queen gets into place.

And I know it's all over as I resign in disgrace.

I have lost 3 games especially the last one,

Never judge a low rated player, for they are far worser.

Ok 3 games down having no luck,

But with music 🎶 like this,

Listening to my favourite track.

I am sure to go on a winning streak,

This time I know what I will do.

Play really confidently at least I hope to,

The fourth game will be different.

This time I will play, be intelligent,

The opening starts and no time to waste.

My opponent plays fast without any haste,

I feel strong this time with bold moves.

I just know I will win, I know I will not lose,

My opponent castles makes no mistakes.

I sac my bishop, it's called the Greek Gift!

I love this move, it works everytime,

And with my awesome tune, it makes me shine.

My opponent takes the bishop with their king,

And all I can do is laugh and grin.

For that sacrifice is for sure to make me win,

I sacrifice a few more pieces.

I know my opponent is in sheer crisis,

For I am no magician from Riga

But I believe in myself and I am my own teacher.

So what can my opponent do?

Move a pawn 1 square or 2,

But come on opponent, you should really resign,

Do not just wait, and waste my time.

But only a few seconds left on the clock,

Who really cares listening to this awesome track.

I go into another game, forget the rating,

Just play your best and stop anticipating.

Have no fear, have no doubt,

For I will be winning just move your king about.

I have lost many pieces, I lost my queen,

But I know for a fact that's not everything!

It's so crazy how fast I play,

But hyper bullet makes you hyper......

What else can I say.

I still will win I know what to do,

Just run your king that's what I know.

The chase is on in this crazy game,

I have no other pieces except my king.

The music 🎶 is pumping,

My heart is beating,

I need to win just this time.

1 second left and yes you can say,

It's pure chess and adrenaline.

YES it's my game, I knew I would win,

My heart is still beating but I feel just fine.

Can all that be done,

In just 30 seconds.

If you put on some great music 🎶 

I am sure you will feel fantastic.

Still more games to go,

I am quite exhausted that's for sure.

Do I quit or do I carry on,

When this music 🎶 stops I think I will be done.

I am in my next game and tired from the last,

But I will continue to play, even if it's not fast.

I slow myself down and play a bit more normal,

Not like my last which was crazy and abnormal.

That's what hyper bullet does,

Makes you play crazy moves real fast.

You can't ever blink or you will lose the plot,

No time to think, 30 seconds is all you got.

Going into another game, double my rating,

Oh dear, if I get tricked that will be embarrassing.

I know this trap, I have seen it before,

But oh dear, I didn't see that.

It's something I just didn't know,

Well now I really am very stuck.

This game was really a kick in the guts.

I really wanted to win, 

And thought I really could.

But a double rated player,

Will play above the odds.

Now I think I should resign,

And move onto the next.

But my opponent texts "well played"

And I am sure I have made a great friend!

Chess is really a great game,

Whatever you play, you can always make a friend.

I haven't done too well, but I haven't done to bad,

I shouldn't be too hard on myself.

I shouldn't get too mad.

My next game is with a very low rated player,

I should be cautious, not too calm.

For I have learnt from my lesson,

That they can be quite awesome.

For you never know what can happen in chess,

Especially in a game of hyper bullet!

My opponent starts with 1.g4,

Oh no, oh no, oh no.......

I hate this opening, it's so very dubious,

But how my opponent plays, I am very curious.

I think I have nailed it and I know just what to do,

Never start with 1.g4,

If you don't know what to do.

I get my pawns in the center,

I know by far, this is way much better.

If my opponent makes a mistake,

I will know just what to do.

Take out my bishop and queen,

And go for that deadly checkmate.

But my opponent falls for the trap,

And I go for that great queen sac!

My opponent grabs my queen,

Something that is often seen,

I take a pause, I move my bishop,

To its destination of that deadly checkmate!

What a wonderful game,

I actually won in less than 15 seconds,

For my opponent it was such a shame.

I want to play more, I am having so much fun.

With great music 🎶 like this,

Makes me feel I am in chess bliss.

I play one more and I meet my level,

Who knows who will win, but I need to be clever.

My opponent tries scholars checkmate,

For I know how to punish my opponent.

They should wish they never started this,

I will win for sure without any miss.

They move in with a crazy move,

I thought I got it right, but I moved in too soon.

I will win this battle with a fight,

But my opponent is too strong,

And something has gone drastically wrong.

What do I do,

What move do I make.

This is so crazy, it must be a mistake,

How did I get it so wrong.

I studied this all day long,

I need to be rescued like in this music 🎶 

I think it's about a helicopter 🚁 

Rescuing someone in danger.

Someone somewhere, but something is going wrong,

Who is shouting, what is happening,

What is going on...............

I have messed up big time,

And time is not on my side.

I think I should quit,

I think I should resign.

Wow, the game just got aborted!
