Smothered mate in practice
One of the most famous checkmate patterns in chess is smothered mate. Everyone knows it, but have you ever won that way? Or have you ever seen that live?
In that post I am going to show you couple examples of smothered mate application.
Let's start from the beginning.
Sometimes it happens even in the strong grandmasters game.
However, the most common case is when smothered mate appears as a sideline. That thing had got a place in famous game of the century played by young Bobby Fischer.
