jan 21 weekend chess update

this weekend i:

played my first chess game using my new real life chess board, against a real person! it was weird, im so used to seeing the digital pieces. i lost.

lost one of the rooks of my brand new chess set. i hope it turns up!

abandoned “the six power moves of chess” halfway thru cuz i didnt like it. it was the shallow annotations on the kasparov game that finally made me sad enough to put it down. 

started reading “weapons of chess”

finally figured out the rematch function; i think ive seen it pop up before but never knew what it was, so now i feel bad i ignored it. but this time i accepted and played my first set of games against the same random online person

moving on to the 1400 bots, beat david-bot

got promoted to bronze league? i still am not sure i understand the league thing, i never signed up for it so i guess its just an automatic thing that chess dot com does

solved the daily puzzle on the first try, the other day. not on a hard day, but. i do like the daily puzzle.

thought about whether theres any goals i actually want to achieve for my first month of chessing, since theres only one week left. and decided nah.
