the 1100 bots: sven-bot, azeez-bot, laura-bot

sven-bot advertised himself as a defensive player, and he was not lying. but i played a principled opening and went into the middle game feeling like i had such a positional advantage that i could not lose, despite us being even on material. so i went after his king with a pawn army because that is my favourite.

i even remembered to move the pawn 2 spaces on the first move!

game against sven-bot. engine says it played like a 1000, which is almost as advertised.

going into the endgame i was sure there was a faster way to mate, but i was trying to simplify and not leave myself open to a blundery checkmate on the back rank. simplifying the game is hard when ur opponent-bot is reluctant to trade.

the engine analysis seems to think both me and the bot did pretty ok! thats a first!

i played the other bots yesterday but i was tired and feeling less principled and the games were messy.

azeez-bot had ups and downs and no one came out looking good.

game against azeez-bot. analysis says it played like a 300.

laura-bot claims to play inspired by judit polgar. i dont know who that is but i assume theyre bad at endgames.

i was lazy in the beginning but refocused going into the endgame, ready to take advantage of any bot blunders she threw at me. and bot blunders were aplenty.

chess game with laura-bot. analysis says they played like a 700.

in this game i forgot that even late in the game u can still move ur pawn two spaces on the first move. but im working on it.

the bots may still be letting me win for now, but if i keep working my way up it wont be long before i get to ones that force me to be on top of my game the entire time, probly.
