League Congress - Saturday

1/1 in an Open.  Frankly, it wasn't going to stay as good as this!  Next was someone well-known for playing the Colle (cue bluechessmaster's pro-Colle rant) and they outgraded me by a whopping 46 points.  I don't mean to brag but James Sherwin took a great interest in this game.  Obviously he was scared at the prospect of playing me next!

Earlier in the day I'd looked David Buckley (209 grade and captain of the Bristol 4NCL teams) up on chessgames.com and saw that he sometimes played Alekhine's Defence.  I figured that the odds of me playing him, as white, with him playing that were so slim I wouldn't bother making preparations.  Not that it really made a difference!  Round 3:

So I lost to a 209.  What a surprise.  *grumble*
