Rook Basic Endgames: Some things you need to know
Hello my chess friends. Today we are going to talk about rook basic endgames. Rook endings are the most common in chess, that’s why they are so important. You must know how to play in winning positions with a pawn in advantage (Lucena), and how to play in drawing positions with a pawn in disadvantage (Philidor).
In this post we are going to see Lucena and Philidor (I will be brief because this has been explained many times), and also two interesting alternatives that could save you in some moments. Besides, I bring two examples of how these endings can help you in your own games.
Lucena
Lucena’s alternative solution
Philidor
Philidor’s alternative solution (Passive Defense)
In this video you can find the analysis of these endings, and also 2 practical examples.
