How Did I Blunder Mate In One???? (King's Gambit Declined)
Hi there!
It's Stacia, your favorite adult chess improver! (I hope) In this game which was played at the Parma Chess Club on 3/10/20 I faced Dave Bumba (1800 USCF) who unknowingly walked right into a computer line I prepared in the King's Gambit! I offer my rook knowing full well I will get it back and then some, but the position is playable for both sides. I reasoned that maybe I would know it better than my opponent, but this was my first time playing it so my reasoning is suspicious! hehe
Anyway, buckle your seatbelt and hold onto your horses because this is a bumpy one! I was CERTAIN I won the game with a nice little series of moves when Bumba played a capture I unknowingly omitted from my calculation. Yikes! And then you guessed it.... as the title of this post suggests.... I blundered and lost the game... ouch! It still hurts. But let's see what we can learn about this on the board and psychologically.
You never lose if you learn!
Full game and analysis in the video.
Happy Checkmating!
