Welcome to my Intro to the Sicilian Sveshnikov, an opening recently featured by Magnus Carlsen in the 2018 World Championship not once, or twice... but four times!  It was enough to get me interested.    The Sveshnikov comes from the moves 1. e4 c5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. d4 cxd4 4. Nxd4 Nf6 5. Nf3 e5!e

The Sicilian Sveshnikov Main Line

Although 5...e5! is anti-positional at first glance giving up the ever so desired d5 square black gets a surprising amount of strategic play for this concession.  Enjoy!
