Grandmaster Teaches Grasshopper | Hyper Accelerated Dragon
"Mikey! Tactics! Take the Knight! He has no back rank support." - GM Eugene Perelshteyn.
This is a direct quote from the game where we played the Hyper Accelerated Dragon against our opponent during one of our live lessons on Twitch.
For those of you that don't know, the Hyper Accelerated Dragon is named after The Dragon Constellation. It got it's name because of it's unique shape.
That shape is similar to black's pawn structure when the Hyper Accelerated Dragon is played.
See how it looks almost identical to the Dragon Constellation?
My favorite thing about this opening is how strong Black's pieces become.
The pressure in this game becomes so intense that white doesn't know what to do with his Dark Squared Bishop so he moves b3?? Giving away his rook for free! That's why Black's Dark Squared Bishop is considered the "Fire" for the Dragon. It's so strong and unpredictable!
b3??
Now we can get to my favorite part in this game. It seems I made a huge mistake allowing my opponent to fork me. What should I do here?
I tried to set this up as a tactic, but I'm not good enough with the tools yet. Sorry!
Pretty neat opening right? You can see the whole game play out while Eugene gives his Grandmaster advice in the video below.

In conclusion, this opening is awesome when your opponent plays e4. I love it more and more every time I play it. It puts White in an uncomfortable position. If you want to get an idea of how strong the tail is, check out what Donkey has to go through when they go to save the princess from the castle.
