How Are These Moves Not BRILLIANT?!
I was playing one of the worst bullet games of my life, but I managed to turn it around on move 23. However, when I went to analyze the game afterwards I noticed that I had ZERO brilliant moves!
The game wasn't going in my favor as I was down a pawn going into move 23 where I played Nxc3. Not only was I down a pawn, but Stockfish 15 puts white at a +2.46 evaluation. After my move Nxc3 it rendered my move as a mistake and put white further into the lead with a +5.78 evaluation!!
My idea was that after White took with 24... bxc3 I would respond with 25... Bxc3 forking both the Rook on a1 and the Queen on e1. Brilliant right? Not according to the engine! In the game White decides to play b4 so I got to live happily ever after, but why wasn't this a brilliant move? The engine agrees that the sequence of moves leads to material being equal, but still somehow leaves White with a +4.24 evaluation.
I guess I just need help understanding why the engine prefers Qb6 instead while keeping White up a pawn and my Queen on a worse square. Am I missing something? Help!!
Leave a comment below to help me better understand this. Would you have made the same move? I've never been so confused after analyzing a game as I am right now. I'm sure it's something simple, but I'm just not getting it right now for some reason. Please help by dropping a comment below!
