The Fork
A fork, everyone knows what a fork is! But do you know what it means in chess? Well first how do we use a fork? We stab it into our food, but in chess we get two pieces on our fork, but sadly one escapes! Sometimes we just get nothing, (example below, of how the knight can be deadly.)
As you can see white threatened the rook and the bishop! But the bishop moved down to protect the rook. And when the knight takes, he fails, he loses material.
Now not all the time do you lose stuff, but you can also get a huge gain! (example below)
Now he lost two rooks, by not protecting and white eventually will win. Now as you can see it happens a lot, you lose stuff and gain stuff, that's life and chess! Now we all make mistakes, even if we lose that means we gained more knowledge to avoid that mistake! Even if you make that mistake 5 times in a row, or even 100 times! Mistakes make us smarter.
Isn't it cool how you can almost never grow out of chess? It's such a great game.
Knights move little different
