Online Matches: Looking for opponents

Hello everyone,

With the ongoing situation, online tournaments and matches are booming. We are all trying to get the best of the bad situation and chess really helps. I don't know what I would do if it wasn't for chess. I am at home for more than a month and it seems that this will go on and on...

Anyways, ever since the Covid-19 situation started, I started to organize matches for my team, which is comprised of juniors born between 2003 and 2012. We are a chess club based in Bangkok, Thailand. You can find more about us on our website and our Facebook page.

So far we played 3 opponents, from Serbia, Spain and France, and this week we are playing a team from Italy. We are looking to find more opponents and make more new friendships.

What are we looking for:

1. Opponent team to be also comprised of juniors, 18 years old and younger.
Our team is made of juniors. The oldest one us born 2003 and the youngest one is 2012. We are looking for teams who have similar structure of players, to match kids with similar age and ratings.

2. A classical match on 15 chess boards (could be a bit more or a bit less players)
When I say classical match I mean: we fix the board in order from oldest/higher rated to youngest/lowest rated. We use FIDE ratings. Each player plays 2 games, one with white and one with black pieces, with one opponent from the other side. The time control is 15 minutes + 10 seconds.

3. Preferred time
We prefer Sundays. With the teams from Europe we played 15:00 Bangkok time, which is morning time in Europe. We have not played with teams from other continents so far, and we are looking forward to do that. Hopefully we can find time on Sundays that works for both sides.

Please check our FB page / webiste to read more about our previous matches and our team, and if you like the idea, please contact me.

Here is our team:

Looking forward to making new friendships.

Thank you!

Fide Master, Trainer and founder of Red Knight Chess Club - Bangkok.
