Hey guys! Welcome back to my blog! Today, I will be talking about the origin of chess! Enjoy!

The history of chess can be traced all the way back 1500 years ago. The earliest predecessor of chess was India. From India, chess spread to Persia.  When the Arabs took over Persia, chess was introduced to the Muslim world. Chess later quickly spread to Southern Europe. In Europe, chess roughly evolved into its current form in the 15th century. Romantic Chess was the predominant chess style from the 18th century to the 1880s.

Chess games during this period emphasised on quick, tactical maneuvers rather than long term strategic planning. In the second period of the 19th century, modern chess tournaments began to happen. The first official WCC (World Chess Championship) was held in 1886. The 20th century saw great leaps forward in chess theory. Also in the 20th century, the World Chess Federation (FIDE) was created. Computer analysis was created in the 1970s.

Chess has been in Russia for 1000 years. Chess was probably brought to Old Russia in the 9th century. From the 10th century, cultural connections with the Byzantine Empire and the Vikings influenced the history of chess in Russia. Competitive chess became visible in 1834 because of the La Bourdonnais-Mc Donnel matches.

That was a brief history of chess! Hope you enjoyed!
