Today I’m back again and I don’t have any puzzles for you. But I have my group project at school instead. I know this won’t be great for some people, but I just want to post my result. I’m bad at English but in my class, I’m the best to write about chess. The title of this project is to introduce about a sport. My role is to write a document introducing about chess (my group has 3 members and two of them like chess) and the others search for pictures, photos,… to decorate the project. And this is the project!
“Chess is a mind sport (you don’t need to exercise when playing chess) and you need 2 people to play. It was invented in India and evolved from Chaturanga (a similar type of game but its rule was a bit different). You need to have some strategies and tactics to win the game. Also, you’ll need to learn and practice playing chess regular and so that you can improve. Today, chess is one of the world's most popular games, played by millions of people worldwide.
The chess rule is quite simple. Two players will play on a board with 64 squares arranged in an eight-by-eight grid. At the start, each player (one controls white pieces to go first and the other one with black pieces to move later). We will have 32 pieces on the board in total, so that means you and your opponent have got 16 pieces for each. There’ll be a clock for every game,too! For a typical match, each player have around 1 hours and a half to move and complete your game. You can only move your pieces and press the clock with one hand (If you move with two hands, you’re breaking the rule)! You will win the game when you are attacking your opponent’s king but it doesn’t have any safe squares left to move (this is called “checkmate”) or it will be a draw in some cases. Every year, there is a competition called “World Chess Championship”. If you win that competition, you will become the chess king and receive a large amount of money as the prize.
Chess is very interesting to watch. You can also imporve by watching chess analysis videos or the top players’games on TV! They even have some chess puzzles (a position) for you to practice. But the main benefit of playing chess is that it helps you to focus on something or improve your memory!
