Online Puzzles vs. Book Puzzles

Afternoon chess world! I actually want to leave it up to all of you to give me your opinion!  When I started playing chess, I started playing online  puzzles (on chess.com) first.

Over a few months, reading chess article, blogs, watching chess videos, I bought 1001 Chess Exercises for Beginners. Last week I also bought Chess: 5334 Problems, Combinations, and Games from Laszlo Polgar.

One reason was, I’m already halfway through the first book (though I will of course repeat it a few times). But second, I have noticed (and read) that online puzzles are not as good and puzzles from books.

For me, I don’t like that most online puzzles don’t allow you to play out the whole game. Unless it’s mate in 1 or 2. But as I’ve increased in my chess.com puzzle rating, while the puzzles get ‘harder’ I might play 1 or 2 moves and that’s the whole puzzle. And I feel like not only am I missing out by not playing the whole thing, but also, it’s making my puzzle solving worse...not better!

What do you all think about online puzzles vs. books??
