The first most common opening is the Kings pawn. The opening is very simple, as white or black, Move your pawn in front of the king forward to e5 or e4.

The idea is to make room to activate your Queen and Bishop like this:

And activate your knight and control the center. But sometimes it’s not gonna be e4 and e5. Sometimes it can create the Caro-Kann defense. In which instead of black moving e5 they move c6. From this position they can activate the queen almost immediately.
