New Chess Pieces, Full Set

I had been searching for a modest, well-crafted chess set.  I searched through etsy, Amazon, local businesses, had no luck. I am stubborn, I did not want to make another login for another website, question their security, so I limited myself to what sites I had established accounts with.

I gravitate to minimalism, simple designs.  I was also searching for a set that included two queens and a king piece that was around 3.75" - 4" tall. I wanted a set that I could pass down to the next generation, and one that would not break the bank.

I tried to ask online streamers about what physical chess set they recommend, I searched through YouTube. I found this chess.com forum useful.  I was not aware of what the tournament standards were, but wanted a future-proof set if we get back to playing live games again after the pandemic.

Justification for purchase: It's just nice to have a tactile game available, versus playing digitally the majority of the time.

Allow me to share my find. I'm quite impressed by their product. I'm not being paid to say this, I just finally had found something interesting to write for a blog.

This set came from India, which seemed very appropriate, considering the theory of Chess's origin. The pieces were packed with great care, individually wrapped, and had a packet of silica gel beads in the plastic bag.
The store, "Royal Chess Mall"  is hosted by Amazon. There are several other stores hosted on Amazon worth checking out as well. The Royal Chess Mall's hand-crafted quality and designs really caught my eye. I also found, when you search for quality crafted material, the board is not included.  I plan to match the set with a board eventually, or I may make one myself.  For now, I am using a 20" vinyl board I found here

The material for the light pieces is boxwood, and ebonized boxwood for the black. The pieces are heavy enough they should not knock over easily in a breeze. It was priced (US Dollars) $129.95, free shipping.

I really like this set as well, just how dramatic the knights are, it's a beautiful set. Tempting to step away from my minimalist style leaning. Definitely out of my budget, I can appreciate the artistry from a distance.

The next investment will be saving up for a board.  I keep going back and forth if I would want borderless or storage for the pieces, a numbered board or one without.  Definitely plan to stick to wood medium. The store's recommended square size is 1.96" to 2.16".
