Chess Bots
How many of you have played against a Chess bot, on chess.com or on any other chess site such as lichess.org or chess24.com . If so, you know that there are many different levels of these bots.
Today I am going to dissect certain games against some of them that are here on chess.com. I will first do Martin, Elena, Aaron, Emir, Sven, Nelson, Antonio, Isabel, Wally and Finally Li. I might go farther in another blog post in which I will also talk about the Beth Harmon bots and one of the streamer bots.
Now I am beginning with Martin:
The game in itself was a pretty good, straight forward. No nonsense game from me but you can easily tell that he went out of his way to blunder and certain times. If you are new to chess than he could be an opponent of yours but other wise it is unrealistic to play him.
Elani:
Another Person with too many blunders. She goes out of her way to miss chances to take pieces and over all is a beginner without a doubt.
Aron:
He fell for simple traps and isn't someone who would be much of a challenge. As long as you are aware of the whole board than you can easily beat him.
Emir
The toughest opponent out of all of the opponents so far. He doesn't make normal blunders and you need to work for the captures. Any decent players should be able to beat him.
Sven
This player can be beaten when you play cautiously, he rarely gives up pieces unless he gets a piece in return. He is a careful opponent that you need patience to beat. The game above shows how much time it can take to finally conquer him. It took me 80 moves to finally pull it off.
After that battle, I am exhausted but the next opponent is less relentless and is obsessed with the queen but that makes him overuse it and end up sacrificing it early on.
Nelson
A tough opponent at times while makes mistakes. In the game above he brought out his queen to early and I managed to take him down, without his queen he has many problems in his game.
Antonio.
He is a solid player with not too many mistakes but you need to take advantage of your chances. He isn't overly aggressive or defensive and is good opponent to play against, depending on your skill level.
For better players he can be played against to improve play in certain positions while people who are trying to improve, he can be a good challenge for you.
Isabel.
An exciting opponent to play against. Isabel is decently aggressive. Not really defense though. Try to grind her down and maneuver your pieces around, when I played against her, she used the sicilian defense but it could vary because other computers change theirs up sometimes.
Wally
This guy is extremely deadly and has infinite patience. He doesn't rush things so you need to be able to play calmly and smartly while often trying to fork, pin or skewer him. Make the most of your chances and don't lose many pieces, when taking, either trade or take without losing more pieces than you gain.
Li
This was game against Li that ended in a draw because of repitition and can I just say that it was extremely annoying because according to the computer, I blundered a win.
Any way, that is it for this edition of the blog.
See you next time with the Beth Harmon bots.
