How To Beat a Grandmaster - Course by Niranjan is LIVE!
There are many books, videos, and courses on common topics like the opening, middlegame, and endgame. We also have an amazing collection of games by the legends of the game. However, there is very little literature on the practical aspects of chess.
This is my attempt to bridge that gap by creating a manual or handbook on the subject of beating a grandmaster. The title is simple and straightforward, inviting you into the quest right from the start.
It is the kind of course I wish I had when I first got my FIDE rating. Above all, what this course aims to convey is that beating a grandmaster is not a big deal. Don’t make it a burden. It is possible to beat them, and you can do it too. If you have lost some confidence, this course can be a boon in helping you rediscover it.

Being a huge fan of films, I wanted this course to have a cinematic arc. It unfolds like a hero’s journey. We begin with a simple baseline: the perfectionist attitude has to be left outside before starting the quest, much like we leave our footwear outside a temple.
Think of it like taking off your shoes before entering a temple: leave the obsession with flawless moves at the door.
10-year-old FM Aarit Kapil made huge waves with his scintillating performance at the Menorca Open recently. Interestingly, the game features many themes that align closely with the subject of my course. Concepts such as the Drawback Principle, the Car Lights Method, ambush, and the Shadripu effect appear in specific moments throughout the game.
Special thanks to ChessBase India for the interview!
Recently, I also did a written interview with ChessBase India and answered a few questions about the course. You can read it here. The interview also carries some info on a book I wrote featuring a Penguin recently. If that makes you curious, do check out the interview.
I also talked about the journey of making my first Grandmaster norm with IM Suyog Wagh and we hosted an interesting giveaway.
