Step 1: Join Your National Chess Federation
Start by becoming a member of your country's chess federation. If you haven't already, join your country's chess federation and complete the registration process.

Step 2: Play in Rated Tournaments
To get your FIDE rating, join FIDE-rated tournaments. These events are approved by FIDE and take place globally. You can discover upcoming FIDE-rated tournaments on their website or through your national chess federation. Start honing your skills by participating in Outpost Chess online and offline tournaments today!

Step 3: Achieve a Performance Rating
In your debut FIDE-rated tournament, you'll kick off with a base rating of 1000 (the minimum rating possible). With each game played, your rating will adjust according to your performance against opponents of different ratings. Your performance rating reflects your performance in a particular tournament, serving as a temporary measure of your skill level during that event.

Step 4: Play the Required Number of Games
In order to obtain a comprehensive FIDE rating for blitz or rapid play against five already rated  players, aiming to score at least 0.5 points in 5 games. Do this within 26 months of registering with FIDE. Additionally, ensure your overall performance score is at least 1000. These games can be distributed across various tournaments or played within a single event. The more games you participate in, the more precise and reflective your FIDE rating will be.

Step 5: Wait for Your Rating

Once you've played nine rated games, it's time to wait for the next FIDE rating list to come out. FIDE updates ratings about once a month. They'll calculate your rating based on how you performed in those games and the ratings of your opponents.
