The Benko Gambit (also known as the Volga Gambit), named for GM Pal Benko (1928-2019) a Hungarian-American chess player, it is a quite active opening and one of the most well respected gambits in chess. Black gives up a pawn for long-term positional compensation and development is straightforward and sometimes white can give back the pawn to gain the initiative.
