The History of Chess.com!

Hello, I am Omar.

Today we will speak about the history of the site chess.com. 

Many people plays at this site, also You too, but You don't know about its history 

really good. Let's get started!

How did that start?

At 1990's times the internet was improving too fast. But that was not good enough, people was enjoying that but everything could be better. The chesslovers like to play chess on a site or one more sites, also I like to play chess at this site. But if I don't like that site, I cannot enjoy from playing chess. The same thing happened at Erik too and he said "Let's make a better site for chess"! Erik Allebest and Jay Severson worked hard on it. At 1995 they start work on it, at 2005 they got the domain and at 2007 they redeveloped the site and launched that. 

Stonks

After 2 years Chess.com acquired a similiar chess networking site chesspark.com. In October 2013 chess.com acquired the Amsterdam-based chess new site chessvibes.com as well.

In 2014 chess.com has reached their milestone when it is announced that over a billion games has been played at chess.com.

In 2016 chess.com reached to new features :

Variants (3 Check, King of The Hill, Crazyhouse, Chess960, Bughouse) and Analyzing a game.

Chess.com has acquired too much tournaments and one of them is World Chess Championship 2021 also it was broadcoasting at live stream platform Twitch.

At Coronavirus

Everyone started to use social media at that times, also people was finding too much sites for getting fun, here was some reasons why people was starting to play chess, everybody was bored of playing another games or chess was more funny for them, so chess.com started to win more members at that virus times. That chess.com could get more members and more money at that times, that was not their prime times but they thought like that.

Ukraine Invation

Chess.com supported Ukraine at this war, Russian players' flag has censored and they prepared emojies like Ukraine Flag and Peace Bird colored to Ukraine Flag. Not just chess.com also FIDE supported Ukraine and could not let the Russian chessplayers play at this tournaments.

Niemann v Carlsen

World's first placed chessplayer Magnus Carlsen lost to GM Hans Niemann, and he said "Niemann is cheating". He is the most knowing chessplayer at the world so many people started to supporting him, but Niemann said I am not cheating, after that some people started to interesting with chess and registered to chess.com.

Hard Times of The Site

The site was at the worth times at 2022 and starting of 2023. The site has reached to too much members. Theese are the reasons:

1-"Queen's Gambit" film.

2-"Mittens".

3-Coronavirus.

4-Ukraine Russia War.

5-Niemann v Carlsen.

6-C. Ronaldo and Messi playing chess.

7-Events.

And as You see, chess.com got too much registers for a short time.

Many people start to hating chess.com, but they did not leave that site, at that hard times all chess.com moderators worked hard, they tried to keep them at this site but that was not the only reason. Because chesslovers cannot find a better site for playing chess and me, other chesslovers thinks chess.com's worth times was better than lichess.org too. Also I think we don't need to speak about chess24.com, we all know what did happen to that site. At that bad times, people could not join the site, and everybody started to see that error: Error 502. It is an error when Your server crushes, and it happens to people rarely but at that times everbody started to see that error, the servers was crushing. Also here was a bug too: Max Capacity

And You could not play live chess while that error is happening. But after that, all moderators started to work hard, and chess.com made mor capacity, they did not stop to make updates for the site, they have prepared too much updates at that hard time and now people does not see that errors, bugs and many people enjoys by playing chess at this site.

Today Chess.com!

I like chess.com, I play at this site since 2018 and I love chess so I love that site too, its design, its quality feels better. At this time all the stuff worked for fixing all the problems and now You cannot see any bugs here! Everybody enjoys playing chess, chatting with people and creating their clubs!
