Your back rank is weaker than mine!
Getting checkmated on the back rank is one of the first (and most painful) ways we lose a chess game when we are learning. The sudden realisation that our King can't move in such an "open" position leaves us with a bad taste in our mouth. However a weak back rank isn't a disease which only plagues new players - even the most experienced player can find themselves in a world of hurt when they neglect to take time to give their king some breathing room....
In this video I reveal some amazing combinations and moves which take advantage of an opponents weak back rank. Sometimes back rank threats save an otherwise lost game, sometimes they win a dead drawn one, and sometimes they are the aesthetic nail in the coffin we all know and love.
Enjoy!!
