Finally, a King Pawn Rook Checkmate

It takes some time to use rare checkmates. I had seen this in a puzzle, but out of 400-500 games never used it. I was playing as white, oppenent as black.

Finally, the other day, down a few pieces, my opponent's king was where I needed to be...

1) Their king was against the wall near my 2 pawns and my king, locked down by the rook.

2) Push up one of the pawns to force check the black king. That king has only one option. Move down into the white square

3) My king was protecting the pawn. All that was needed now, was the closing Rook checkmate.

There it was, combining a pretty weak king, with connected pawns in powerful positions.

The lesson I learned, it's not always the powerful pieces, sometimes it's the powerful position you put them in as a team.
