Matthew 6:3-4 Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)

If you want to excel in the endgame you will have to work hard and put in the time. Studying on your own may not be glamorous or as fun as playing an actual chess game. However, if you want to experience the rewards of endgame skill then you have to be willing to invest in yourself.
At my level last year I required little endgame knowledge to reap the reward. A simple tactic and basic arithmetic. The following game displays and endgame where both players have two Rooks.
Here is a game that was mostly even but my opponent slippled up at the end.
Not sure who this is attributed to but this next game is the joke/philosophy of how you don't have to outrun the bear.
I had thought (mistakenly?) my opponent could win by creating an outside passer. I don't see that variation at the moment but if you find a way please comment.
The point is that I won all these games not because I played them perfectly. Far from it. All I had to know was a little more than my opponent. So study endgames and you may find that more grace will be given to you.
New Living Translation
So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.
