Hello all,
This is my first blog, and as I’m new to the art of blogging, any criticism is appreciated. To start off, for all of the English Defense (AKA e6 b6) players here, scroll down, because I’m going to explain e6 b6 to the people that don’t know it first.
The English Defense, which I will now refer to as e6 b6, is an opening that starts with the moves, wait for it…. e6, and b6!!!! I know that’s crazy. Anyway, the idea of this opening is to concede the full center to white, then punish them by turning those center pawns into targets via the pawn breaks c5 and f5. I’ve heard it referred to as “A fusion of the Nimzo-Indian and The Queen’s Indian Defense” I’ll throw in some sample positions from this opening. I will also link a few YouTube videos if you’re interested.
Okay, now that we know what e6 b6 is, we are going to get to the main point of this blog. Somehow, the London counters every intention of playing e6 and b6. So what should we do about that? Well, not play e6 b6. “But what if we already play e6?”, you may ask. Well, those pesky London players are in for a treat. I know that every non-London player in existence despises those people who play the London. So this is where I get to the main point of this blog. For the past couple months, against d4 I have played e6 b6. After they play Bf4, I’m always sad because I struggle against the London. This is why pathetic 14-1500 me decided to get computer prep against the London for meaningless 10 minute games on the internet. This is where I discoverered, e6…. c5! I know what you might be thinking. ‘What is he saying’ ‘What the hell is this?’ Well, It’s common knowledge that after d4 d5 Bf4 the best response is c5. So why wouldn’t that be true after d4 e6? Well in a game, I decided to try it, then mouse slipped c6, and I actually don’t remember the result of that. After that, I went into analysis and my suspicions were confirmed, after d4 e6 Bf4, c5 is the top engine move. The plans of this position are fairly simple, Nc6, Nf6, delay d5, your light squared bishop stays home, and at some point you snatch that London bishop with Nh5. There you go, my computer prep against the London.
This is me signing off, PawnHurricanes.
