The worst/funniest Openings of all time!

To get the obvious first choice out of the way, I will begin with showing...

1: The Bongcloud Opening

With the goal of keeping this Blog entry short and comprehensive, I will list the reasons for the Bongcloud being on this list in short form.

By moving the King on Move 2 you are:

-giving up castling rights

-blocking in your Queen and light Bishop

-losing a tempo

-falling behind on development

My second pick for this list is pretty much the same as the Bongcloud Opening.

2: King David's Opening

To summarise this Opening, imagine you've just spent hours learning theory for 1.e4 e5, but as soon as you wanna test it out in an actual game... your opponent plays the Sicilian. Out of frustration you decide you're going to play one move in anger and then resign. This exact scenario is my leading theory on how this Opening came to be. I'm not going to delay showing this Opening so here it is:

The reasons for this Opening being bad are the same as the ones listed for the Bongcloud.

Okay I promise this is the last (and I'd say the worst) early King move Opening in this post so let us get it over with and get to more unique Openings.

3: The Hammerschlag Opening

The differance between this Opening and the previous two on this list is that this one already involves you making a mistake on the first and the second move of the game.

I'm going to explain after sharing this Opening with you here:

Let me explain the two mistakes white just played one by one.

Move 1:

Believe it or not white played one of, if not the worst first move you can make: 1.f3.

This move does three major things:

-It misses the opportunity to control the center on the first move

-It signifficantly lowers King Safety

-It takes away the main development square for your kingside Knight

Move 2:

This move is a huge mistake for more obvious reasons, which are all explained in the previous Openings.

Okay we have officially done it! We have completed the boring-bad Openings!

I am going to show you the rest of the list after a short break from all that reading and give you a puzzle! (Skip this if you don't want/need a break)

Okay let's continue with the last Opening for this Blog entry.

4: The Damiano Defense

This is the first entry on this list that is played by black and it is also probably the most interesting Opening on this list as it actually forces black to decide beween losing material and losing the game by Checkmate. (Fun fact: This Opening actually allows white to play the earliest poossible brilliant move)

So these are the moves which initiate the Damiano Defense:

At first glance this does not seem that bad, however I am gong to show you the brilliant move and the choice it forces out of black.

Possibility #1: Losing material

Choice #2: Losing the Game by Checkmate

And with that I would like to wrap this Blog entry up with first of all saying thank you for your time and attention and also point out that I'm not close to being considered a master so if i missed something please do tell me in the comments.

Also Feedback in general would mean the world to me!

I will hopefully see you tomorrow,

Byeee :3

What's up everybody! I try to post regularly but since I do this mostly alone (@Iphonevonhannes has helped me a few times) it's hard to keep up with my plans.

I hope you enjoy reading my blog as much as I enjoy writing it!
