In the Beginning was Pandemonium! Check out “Big Bang Start” in PlunderChess®
Well… if you’ve downloaded the PlunderChess® app (99 cents; Android or iOS)… AND... you would not shy away from an all-out chaotic game opening… then we think “BIG BANG START” is perfect for YOU! (Be careful however, as you might just become addicted to its play!)
So, what is Big Bang Start? Simply put, the computer AI (Artificial Intelligence) randomly scrambles the starting positions of all chess pieces on the board. What that means to you is… if you are playing white and thinking of a Queens Gambit opening, or perhaps maybe the Italian or even Spanish Game… forget it! It won’t happen because the starting positions of your pieces have been arbitrarily shuffled. Whites very first move in a match with a Big Bang Start might just be Bishop on b3 captures Rook on f7 then plunders the Rook vest (Bxf7*R)! But be careful because black may counter with its very first move being Queen on c7 captures Knight on h2, plunders Knight vest, check (Qxh2*N+) Bang! Actually, Big Bang! And you are now up and rolling with an all-out chaotic Big Bang Start!
To set up Big Bang Start tap “Options” from the Home Page. Turn “ON” Big Bang Start at bottom on your screen and you are good to go. (Turn “OFF” Big Bang Start when you want to play using the traditional start.)
Btw… We have placed varying restrictions on “where” certain pieces can be placed in the scrambled start. For example, white and black pieces will always start on their own half of the board only. Additionally, the King will always be placed on one of the 8 squares of its traditionally positioned rank only etc., etc… Also it is noteworthy to mention that due to the scrambled start, castling cannot be played.
The screen shot below is an example of how your match may open with the Big Bang Start. What would your first move be if you were White? Your clock has started! ![]()
