From April 9 to May 11, 2023, the First Experimental DMD Chess Tournament was held on the website of the Academy of Chess and Checkers Arts ASHSHI in the format of a game by correspondence (time control 10 days per game plus 12 hours per move).

Nine people took part in the tournament, which included not only players from Russia, but also from Belarus and France. Therefore, this tournament could be called international.

Each played two games against each other with white and black.
72 games were played, of which 34 were won by white, 37 by black and one game ended in a draw.

Considering that no one had ever played such a variant of chess before, and for many the concept of a double move was a novelty, the results of this tournament are of particular interest, both from the point of view of the battle of intellects and from the point of view of psychology, since the players’ reactions to certain events occurring on the board were fundamentally different from the usual interaction with standard chess, not only in the double set of chess pieces, but also in the unusual geometry of the board.

I present to your attention a selection of several final positions from the games of this tournament, which give a clear idea of what DMD Chess is.

The first Experimental Tournament undoubtedly proved the full viability of this variant of chess. In fact, DMD Chess, despite all its apparent simplicity, turned out to be much deeper and more complex than ordinary chess.

The depths and unusual architecture of the game of DMD Chess, which was revealed in the games played in the tournament, showed that this variant of chess has enormous potential and stands out clearly against the background of other two-move games, be it Marseille Chess or Galvin's Double Chess.

Research into the world of Double Move Double Chess has just begun. We are just at the beginning of the journey. We have before us the amazing and stunning possibilities of this game, which each of you can enjoy to the fullest, without burdening yourself with the question of how to buy a board and a set of pieces for DMD Chess, since in order to start playing DMD Chess it is enough to have two standard chessboards and, accordingly, two standard sets of chess pieces.
