Analysis for Improvement - My Goal

In reading Botvinnik's one hundred selected games, I came across a memorable quote, which now, looking through the book, I cannot find. (😅)

Essentially, Botvinnik says that in order to improve your chess, analysis of top player's games is a must. But not only should you analyze and learn from the games, you should also publish your analysis so that others can read it and help you improve.

So, I'm starting this project: a blog where I analyze games from the best players in history, by myself. No engines, no other annotations, just me and my thoughts on chess.

I hope that you all learn something from this, but I also hope that your constructive criticism will help me improve at chess.

Happy reading!

The game I've chosen to analyze first is a game from Botvinnik himself: In 1945, the USSR and the USA had a match over radio with some of their top players. You may not be surprised to learn that USSR won convincingly 15.5 - 4.5, and Botvinnik played top board against Arnold Denker, winning both games. I hope you enjoy this attacking masterclass, as well as my accompanying notes
