The Loss of My Beautiful Niece Maggie
On May 21, 2013 we lost my beautiful niece Maggie to an accidental gunshot wound to the head. Maggie was 10 years old and was in the room with her 13 year old brother as he was cleaning his shotgun and the gun discharged. The 9 year old sister was in the room as well. Maggie was playing as she normally did on this beautiful day when this most tragic accident happened and took her life so early. How could this possibly happen? It's still a question that I often think about.
After the gun discharged, the 9 year old ran and got a towel to put on her head because she was bleeding. The 15 year old sister ran in the room and started to do CPR, but it was too late. Imagine what these siblings had to endure that very sad day.
Our family was and is still devastated with pain and grief as we will miss Sweet Maggie. The service of celebrating her precious life was the most moving service I had ever been to. There were many tears, pain and joyfulness at the same time. To know Maggie for even a minute was a true blessing. Maggie was a very out going child that never met a stranger. If she was in the grocery store for an hour, she knew more people in there than anyone did. She made friends and knew all about their family along with their names, ages and how long they lived in the area.
Maggie loved the Lord with all her heart. We have no doubt where she is right now. She is happy, dancing and without pain. She has touched so many lives in her short 10 years on this earth then most people do in a lifetime. You see, her dad is a Pastor and Maggie would even lead the church in worship music at the tender age of 10. Maggie wrote songs about Jesus and had been doing so since the age of 6.
We love her and always will. She is missed deeply. I have included this song about Maggie. The song I chose is "Born This Way" by Lady Gaga, however, I chose the song sung by a 11 year old girl, Maria Aragon. Maggie reminds me of this young girl.

We will always love you sweet Maggie!
