Losing on time like this.

Losing on time like this.

Hello chess friends.

I must admit that I am not a good blitz player. In fact, I am not that great of a chess player too but I love this game more than anything. And that love has driven me to learn the game and develop a deeper and a broader understanding.

I watch a lot of chess stuff on YouTube and I appreciate the lovely moves, combination, planning and technique. And inspired by that, by poor judgment, I go to Live Chess and play 5 minutes blitz games hoping that I will implement what I learn from the great masters. That is where I go wrong.

Thanks to my poor internet connection, I am constantly dissuaded to play blitz as my games get interrupted when the connection is lost. In spite of that, I go to Live Chess just for the thrill of it. I win some games and I lose some games.

The people are nice. They don't talk in the chat section, play the games and leave the chat room. But there are individuals who either run away when they are a piece down without having the courtesy to either continue or resign and there are individuals who do this.

I love endgames. But I must openly admit that I play blitz more by hand than my mind as I simply can't calculate endgames in the thrill and spill of blitz. You can clearly see that I botched the endgame, and was by the opponent's poor technique able to equalize. After the pawns were exchanged, we both had about a minute in each our clocks. I offered a draw. My opponent declined. And thought he would win the game by an unfortunate skewer. That did not happen. I offered another draw. Nope! I need to win this game on time. I had 10 seconds and he had 20 seconds. Pre-moves were not enabled so owing to my poor mouse skills, I lost the game.

Okay, I lost the game. I hold no dreadful association to losing a chess game. But if I were to win a game like this, I would hold no positive association to the same.

You might think that I lost a game and I am writing all this. But to the wonderful game of chess, these types of games are simply not part of it.
